Most people take a reactive approach to eye care; they tend to ignore their eye health until they notice a change in their vision. However, to ensure your eyes are as healthy as they can be, you need regular eye exams to monitor your vision and overall eye health. Even if your vision seems perfectly fine, you need to have your eyes examined on a regular basis.
Often, changes to vision can be so subtle that we don’t realise they’re happening. You might be subjecting your eyes to ongoing strain and not even know. Regular eye exams empower you to take a proactive approach to your eye health.
We usually recommend our patients have their eyes examined every 1 or 2 years.
Eye exams are also a crucial component in screening for and diagnosing eye diseases. Many of these diseases, such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, develop without any noticeable symptoms. While they do result in cumulative vision loss, this effect can be so gradual that by the time the patient realises it, they’ve already lost a significant portion of their eyesight.
We include ocular and systemic disease screening in every eye exam, giving you the best chance of early diagnosis and effective treatment.
Spending an entire day in front of a computer screen or digital display could have a negative effect on your eye health, not to mention other unpleasant symptoms like headaches, neck pain, and difficulty focusing. This is called digital eye strain, and it can be remedied with special lenses.
Finding out what demands your lifestyle puts on your eyes is part of our eye exams. We’re here to identify and meet your eye health needs.
When we perform an eye exam, we don’t just test what you see, we test how you see. That is to say; we test range and field of vision, eye teaming, and focusing abilities. On top of that, we also use our advanced technology to carefully evaluate the interior structures of the eye; ensuring the retina, macula, optic nerve and other essential structures are healthy and free from any sign of disease.
We’re not satisfied until you’re satisfied, which is why we take the extra time to sit down with you and talk about our findings. Your eye exam isn’t over until you feel you understand everything we’ve told you, and we’ve answered all your questions.
At Stonebridge Eye Care, we want your experience to be comfortable, convenient, and positive. We’ve taken a number of steps to make eye care simpler for you.
